Organization admins and workspace admins only
Workspaces are collections of teams, people, and resources within a Figma organization.
Assigning people to a workspace lets organization admins delegate user and content management responsibilities to workspace admins. Assigning people to a workspace won’t affect their membership to any teams they’ve already joined. While people can only get assigned to one workspace, they’ll still be able to browse, join, or ask to join teams in other workspaces in your organization.
Anyone who isn't assigned to a workspace is considered Unassigned. Both organization and workspace admins can manage unassigned users.
- Organization admins can assign people to–or move people between–any workspace within the organization.

Assign any unassigned people to a workspace?
- From the file browser, click Admin in the left sidebar.
- Select the People tab. Figma will show all members by default.
- Click the Workspace: All filter and select Unassigned.
- Navigate to, or search for people you want to assign.
- In the Workspace column of the table, click Unassigned and select a new workspace.
Tip: To manage multiple people at once, select them in the table and click Change workspace from the bulk actions menu at the bottom of the page.?
- From the file browser, click Admin in the left sidebar.

Make sure the correct workspace is displayed at the top of the tab bar. If necessary, click the name of the organization or current workspace and switch to the correct workspace.
- Select the People tab and click Add members.
- Navigate to, or search for, people you'd like to assign and mark the checkbox next to their name.
- Click Add members.?
Reassign people to another workspace
You can reassign people to a different workspace at any time.
- Organization admins can move people between all workspaces.
- Workspace admins can only move people between workspaces they manage.
- From the file browser, click Admin in the left sidebar.
- Select People.
- Use the search field to find the member you want to update.
- In the Workspace column, click their current workspace to open the selector.
- Select another workspace and click Change workspace to confirm.
- From the file browser, click Admin in the left sidebar.
- Select the relevant workspace in the sidebar.
- Select Members to view members and guests in that workspace.
- In the Workspace column, click their current workspace to open the selector.
- Select another workspace and click Change workspace to confirm.
Unassign members and guests
Organization admins and workspace admins can unassign a member or guest from a workspace at any time.
This moves them to Unassigned, where they can be assigned to another workspace. This doesn’t affect their membership on any teams.
- From the file browser, click Admin in the left sidebar.
- Select Members in the menu bar. Figma will show all members by default.
- Find the person you want to unassign. In the Workspace column, click their current workspace.
- Select Unassign to remove them from their current workspace.
- From the file browser, click Admin in the left sidebar.
- Select the relevant workspace in the sidebar.
- Select Members to view members and guests in that workspace.
- Find the person you want to unassign. In the Workspace column, click their current workspace.
- Select Unassign to remove them from their current workspace.
